So... week 3...
The first task was to read an article about things you can do to reach your goals.. so I'm going to add the chrats here with the things I consider I can do, or I'm already doing.. So I can work on my goals.

Read
"Read this article about different things teachers do for professional development and choose three activities that you can do."

Task two...
Think
"You are going to watch a presentation about blogs.
Think about the answer these questions, and make some notes in your learning journal".
  • Have you visited a blog recently? If so which one? Hmmm.. yes, I've visited my colleague's blog, since we are taking this course together.
  • How can blogs be good for teachers? Well, they can show what other teachers think about a subject, how they work with some issues and solve them.
  • What makes a good blog? The content, the information and things you can use to ilustrate the topics you are talking about.
  • Where can you find out about good blogs for English teachers? Hmmm... I don't really know that.. Cambridge?..
  • How can teachers keep up to date with different blogs? That's something I need to learn too.. 'cause don't know much about it...
Since I'm starting work in a couple of minutes I'm going to leave the presentation for later...

Well… this is my goal chart… It was hard to publish but finally I have it here..
Hmmm.. I would say that probably the example from this teacher named Maria is a little similar to me.. I’ve been teaching for four years now, to children, teenagers and adult people, and sometimes, even though you probably know what o do and how to do it, you fell insecure.. that happens to me a lot, that is why I might say that I rather learn everything I can from all areas instead of just what I think I need.

So, here are my goals…

So, this time I haven’t had enough time to do the extension activities because of family activities but I will also do them later.

Hello!!! well, it's week two.. now I have new tasks to complete and little time to do it!!

"You are going to watch a presentation about the cycle of professional development. Before you do, make notes about what you think teachers need to do in each of the stages of professional development"
Now.. these are the stages and my opinions for each:
·         analysis of needs and priorities.- Thinking carefully what are ones needs and debilities, what are the things that one needs to improve.
·         preparation of a plan.- Maybe reading or practicing about something thats needed, for example pronunciation, or vocabulary, since you never stop learning.
·         following the plan.- Applying all the steps to improve the things we listed as our goals.
·         discussion and evaluation.- This is a very important step, because that's how you realize some mistakes or improvements you've achieved during or after the plan.

"Now watch the presentation – The Cycle of Professional Development. Compare the ideas you noted about the different stages with those in the presentation, and add anything interesting you learn from the presentation."
Okey!!!! Let's watch!!
-Think about what yo want to improve in class.
-Do you want your learners to be hapier in class? (I wish...)
-When you've decided your goal and your needs the you can start with your plan.
-think how much time can you spend for activities every week and what is most important for you.
- It can help to have a time to start and finish your plan.
- At the end of the plan think about how it went.
-If you keep thinking of what you want to get better at you will be taking the first step to your goal.

Well those are the notes about the video.
Now there's another task to do:
"Last week you created your professional development profile using the Teacher Development       Tracker."
Now read task one and two in this article about planning your goals. Look at the example of Maria’s experience in task two. How does her experience in the Professional Development and Values category compare with yours?"
So, now I have to read the article and compare it to my experience.

Yeah.. There are times that you feel unconfident even if you have teached for many years.. I mean, this is my fourth year, but.. it's always a challenge, Specially when you are working in a school, and there are easily 30 students per class.

So I have still one more task this time, but little time to do it now, so I will continue and finish this in the next post.

     #5teachingchallenges.

Well, I finished reading the Cambridge English Teaching Framework – Summary.
Mhh... I guess I could say that in matters of teaching I probably need to learn more and improve the methods and stuff, obviously knowing the languages is not enough to teach it, so this is going to have a major impact in my teaching from now on.
The next task is to take this.. sort of a test..
Do
"Now use the Cambridge English Teacher Development Tracker to create your professional development profile and to see where you are in your professional development."
So here I go..
First I'm creating my account there.. so I can check it anytime and see the improvements...
Done.. so now I have to take this quiz.. scary.. (kidding..) There are many questions divided in categories.

So.. let's start!!
okey... maybe I undestimate my own habilities... but that's better than overstimate them, because I can learn more in the process... so... these are my results..

Proficient in all the categories.. some are better though..
So.. the task says I will be using this chart later so let's keep it here.

There's an extra task and I guess I definately need it:

Read
Read more about Teacher knowledge.

While I'm reading I have to take notes about the next points:
  • the things which can be included in 'teacher knowledge'
  • the relationship between teaching knowledge and practice
  • the TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) qualification.
Next week I'm going to recieve another step from this ACTIVITY.

#5teachingchallenges.
"Let’s start by finding out where you are now in your professional development and identifying your strengths, and areas to work on."
Hmmm... okey.. I may have many things to think about here.. so.. Step 1:

Think
"You are going to watch a presentation about what makes a good teacher. Make a list in your learning journal of five things you think make a good teacher."
Okey! So my list of the five things that make a good teacher are....:

  • The teaching methods.
  • The motivation a teacher gives to their students.
  • The classroom management.
  • The way the teacher structures the lesson.
  • Interesting and fun things the teacher can do to get the student's attention.
Now I have to watch this video talking about what makes a good teacher, so here I go...

Here's what the video shows:

  • "Good teachers can motivate learners, they think about how they feel."- Okey... I agree with this.. The teacher can motivate by showing some interesto to the students, by sharing some f their feelings and once they know that they are important to the teacher, they feel comfortable in the class.
  • " They change their activities for different classes and different learners, they know a lot about different aproaches they can use." - For me it's kind of difficult to do this at the begining, speacially with 30 studens or more in a class.
  • "They have good knowledge of the language." - In gfact, you can't teach a language unless you know it very well, and as in your mother tongue, you never stop learning new woerds.. so... the learning is neverending I guess, but I like that.
  • "A common thing about good teachers is that they love their work." - True. You have to love what you're doing, what you're teaching in this case. Even if you don't really love the institution.. LOL, I love to teach English..
  • "Good teachers can say what are they good at and what they need to work on." - So,.. it all made me think a lot...
There are questions in the video:

  1. What is your greatest strenght as a teacher?
Well, I gues that my greatest strenght is that I love teaching and I try to understand my students as much as I can, using this understandment to guide my activities in class.

     2.  Which area of your teaching do you think you need to develop more?

I think I need to develop the way I motivate my students and also to learn different teaching techniques to make each class interesting.

Next task...

Read
For each category of the framework, write in your learning journal whether you think you are at Foundation, Developing, Proficient or Expert stage.

So I'll start reading it tonight... and tomorrow my thoughts of it!... (^_^)/
